Bluefaced Leicester

The Bluefaced Leicester originally came from Hexham (Northumberland) in the the early 1900's.  They came from Border Leicester sheep selected for the blue face (white hairs on black skin) and finer fleeces.

It is a large, impressive sheep with a roman nose, clean face and legs. It is a prominent dual-purpose crossing breed throughout the world. The Border Leicester is ideally suited to this purpose as it is able to pass on to its progeny the thriftiness, prolificacy and ability to look after itself that this breed is so well known for. They are good foragers and fatten well on grass.

You can find them in the UK mainly.
