Leicester Longwool sheep

Leicesters are beautiful sheep. They were developed in England in the
mid-1700s. Leicesters have great historic and genetic value and have played an important
role in improving and founding other breeds.George Washington recognized the value of
Leicesters and used them in crossbreeding to improve his flock.
Leicester Longwools are a medium to large sheep, weighing 180-250 pounds. Their fleeces
are heavy, curly, soft-handling, and lustrous with a spiral-tipped staple up to eight
inches. Fleeces weigh 11-15 pounds.
They are very docile with a warm and gentle personality.
