Apparently, sheep know how to use gun... well at least in Sidi Barrani, Egypt.
This is more irony than anything else. Next time you lay down to take a nap
among your flock of sheep, make sure none of them have a grudge against you.
Egyptian shepherd Mokhtar Adam Fadl should have followed this advice for he was
shot dead - by one of his own sheep while he slept. According to the police, the
animal killed Fadl by kicking his gun and accidentally firing it. The shot hit
the slumbering sheep herder in the chest.

A leading
government leader (Tory) was found driving a sheep lorry with just his
underwear, jacket and wellington boots on in Wales in 1999. Astonished officers
were told that he had removed his trousers after falling in manure at his farm
in Berriew, Mid Wales. The Tories' Welsh National Assembly finance spokesman was
on his way to a nearby abattoir when traffic police noticed one of his
tail-lights was not working. The politician said he was forced to explain that
he had to take off his trousers because they were covered in farmyard manure,
the Western Mail said. A Dyfed Powys Police spokesman said: 'Policemen are
trained to deal with unexpected situations and I am sure they would have taken
this incident in their stride.' For the full story and a photo of the MP (ha ha)

Llamas are the ideal sheepguard. (2001) When Pennsylvania sheep farmer Guy
McCardle was given a llama as payment for doing some work, he thought he might
buy another one and breed them. But when he found out the animal had been gelded
he was at a loss as to what to do with it. That was until the llama displayed
its talent as a guard animal. It seems the llama had developed a unique
affection for McCardle's sheep and would chase stray dogs and coyotes away from
the flock. While McCardle discovered his llama's proficiency by accident,
thousands of sheep producers around the country are buying llamas with the goal
of using them to guard their flocks.
Determined sheep in South
Wales broke through to pastures new by coming up with an ingenious way of
beating the sheep and cattle grids penning them in. They took a long run up at
them, then at the last moment curled up into a tight ball and rolled over them
to the other side! The Undersecretary for Wales, Ted Rowlands, was clearly upset
by this new development. 'We have very ingenious sheep in this area,' he said
apologetically. 'We are up against a very sophisticated animal...' Rolf Harris - True Animal Tales
Running of the Sheep (U.S., September) Reedpoint,
Montana stages a gentle alternative to Spain's famous Running of the Bulls.
Hundreds of sheep are released down Main Street for six blocks. There are also
contests for the ugliest and pretties ewes while shepherds assemble to recite
poetry.
It's crazy but it's true, I only want to be with Ewe! (2001) In Argentina, a man
called Roberto had just moved from Buenos Aires and was looking for somewhere to
live with is pet ewe. After 20 landlords refused accommodation, Roberto has tied
himself to his wooly friend, vowing to stay that way until they find somewhere
to live together. Tropicana Radio reports he's carrying a sign declaring
"down with the discrimination".
